Meet Dr Sedick Camroodien
Dr Sedick Camroodien is a highly skilled OBGYN (Obstetrician and Gynaecologist), practising as a Melomed Gatesville gynaecologist with a Subspecialist training in Gynaecological Oncology, the first in the Melomed group.
He began his medical journey at the University of Cape Town (UCT), where he earned his MBChB in 2008. Following his graduation, Dr Camroodien honed his obstetric and gynaecological care expertise through extensive hands-on experience during his internships and community service at Victoria Hospital, Mowbray Maternity Hospital, and Gugulethu Day Hospital.
In 2012, while pursuing religious studies, Dr Camroodien obtained a medical officer post at the Melomed emergency units. After just one year, he was promoted to Head of Emergency Units at Melomed Hospitals, a position he held for three years. He was instrumental in opening the fourth emergency unit for the Melomed Private Hospital group in Tokai during his tenure. His journey continued at Mitchell's Plain District Hospital, where, after leaving Melomed, he further honed his expertise in both obstetrics and gynaecology and completed his primaries in O&G via the College of Medicine of South Africa before being accepted as a registrar in O&G at UCT.
Dr Camroodien further expanded his skills by completing a sessional consultant post at Groote Schuur Hospital and New Somerset Hospital, focusing on reproductive wellness, hysteroscopy, colposcopy, and general gynaecology. His dedication to advancing his surgical skills led him to win the Golden Telescope Award in 2020 for the best gynaecological research presentation.
In 2023, Dr Camroodien embarked on a fellowship in Gynaecological Oncology at Groote Schuur Hospital, set to be completed in December 2024. His academic excellence has been acknowledged with a first-class pass in his written subspeciality exams, leading to an invitation to the oral exams scheduled for October 2024.
